How it works

Rivets fasten two materials together without welding, adhesives, specialty tools, or skills. When you have a larger project such as automotive, locomotives, or aeronautics, you’ll need to place thousands of rivets. In order to increase efficiency, the best way to do so would be to use a Pneumatic Rivet Gun.

Pneumatic Rivet Guns are compressed air propels the rivet into place when the user presses the trigger. The concept of using one is fairly simple - place the rivet on the end of the tool; then insert into the hole and pull the trigger. The tail of the rivet will then lock it into place.

Since this gun is pneumatic, that means it is compressed by air so a hose will need to connect to the tool to and air compressor. The gun will then reset almost immediately after firing.

The gun itself will cut time compared to manually inserting the rivets but there are also auto rivet feeders. Auto rivet feeders will make inserting rivets even faster. Instead of placing each one into the gun manually, the user will have to insert the gun into the feeder, take out and compress the material together. The videos to the left show that the feeder can cut the time in half compared to manually inserting each rivet.

Advantages

Other than cutting time, the rivet gun also provides a few other advantages compared to manual riveters, battery and corded guns. Some of the advantages include:

  • Repairs

    • Other Pneumatic Riveter Guns don’t have replacement parts or it’s very difficult to repair. Lobster tools have a long lifetime and after years of use, plus correct maintenance, there are replacement parts available for every part in the gun.

  • Integrated vacuum system

    • (On-board-vacuum on/off switch)

  • Lightweight

    • Lobster Riveters are all lightweight and won’t wear out the users arms throughout the day.

  • Ease of Use

    • Using a Rivet Gun doesn’t come with the hand stress of using a manual riveting tool. All it takes is placing the rivet into the gun then inserting the rivet into hole and pulling the trigger.

  • No Recharging

    • Unlike cordless rivet guns, you won’t be worrying about a charge running out or replacing batteries.

  • Quality

    • Lobster’s Rivet Guns the best quality rivet gun available. Lobster’s historically last longer, and will need less repairs than other brands. They are also easier to repair when needed.

  • Reduced Air Consumption

    • R1A1: about 25% less compared with AR2000MV

    • R1A2: about 30% less compared with AR2000HV
